With the summer heat headed our way, a new report says Texas should allow electricity prices to go up dramatically during times of high demand. Dave Fehling of StateImpact Texas reports that the state’s Public Utility Commission has proposed that starting later this summer, during times of the highest demand, wholesale prices should be allowed to skyrocket. That would increase profits, which supposedly would then encourage private companies to build new power plants.
