ACC Professor Named State Fire Marshal

June 4, 2012 5:24 pm by: Nathan Bernier

Texas has a new state fire marshal, and he’s an Austin Community College professor.

Chris Connealy used to be the fire department chief in Cedar Park and in Houston before that. He says one of the biggest firefighting challenges facing the state besides wildfire risk protection is educating people about how to prevent fires.

“It doesn’t make sense to me that we have still people dying, primarily children and senior citizens, in these days and times, and we can do better than this,” Connealy said.

Connealy will continue to teach fire protection at ACC.
