Texas is Still Thirsty

May 17, 2012 4:19 pm by: Matt Largey

Texas continues to slowly recover from last year’s devastating drought. About 57 percent of the state is still in some stage of drought.

At the height of the drought, 100 percent of the state fell under one of four drought categories with 85 percent of the state under the worst designation: exceptional drought. Even after a wet winter and rains in May, 1 percent of the state remains in the worst stage of drought. Much of western Travis Country is still categorized as a stage one drought, or “moderate drought.”
