SoCo Parking Debate Heats Up

Big changes are afoot for parking on South Congress that go beyond the commercial strip. KUT’s Emily Donahue spoke with Ben Wear, transportation reporter for the Austin-American Statesman, about the parking controversy that has been brewing for more than a year.

There’s been a controversy going on for over a year between the merchants, who bring in a lot of people from out of the area and they need to park, and sometimes end up parking on the neighborhood streets, and the neighborhood groups that represent people on either side. And so they’ve been negotiating, but they’ve stalemated.
