Perhaps best known as front man of Old 97′s, Rhett Miller also has an impressive solo career that spans four studio albums so far. With countless hits and appearances in many pop culture outlets besides music (Miller has appeared on the NBC show 30 Rock and has written stories for Rolling Stone and McSweeney’s, among others), Miller has captured enough popular attention to ensure that his soon-to-be-released album The Dreamer will meet a welcoming audience.

The Dreamer will be Miller’s first self-produced record, and on it he pursues a simpler, more rootsy feel than he previously has. The single “Out Of Love” sounds stripped-down and personal. While we are sure to hear some of the rollicking shout-along sound of the Old 97′s, this album is definitely more of a statement from an individual singer/songwriter.

Rhett Miller sat down and played for host Jody Denberg in Studio 1a before playing a free show at Waterloo Records. Listen to his live Studio 1a performance RIGHT HERE!
