Rainwater Flowing Into Highland Lakes

May 11, 2012 5:02 pm by: Nathan Bernier

Lake Travis should rise a foot or two by the end of this weekend, thanks to last night’s storms.

“We did get quite a bit of rain on the Pedernales and Llano watersheds, but it just wasn’t quite enough to create that huge slug of water that we need to really bring the level of the lakes up,” said Bob Rose, a meteorologist with the Lower Colorado River Authority.

Lake Travis is still about 40 feet below full. The Highland Lakes are the main water source for the city of Austin.
