It wouldn’t be a major weekend in Austin without some downtown street closures.

Don’t worry, as KUT News has everything you need to know to navigate Austin this Memorial Day weekend.

Sunday: As a precursor to Memorial Day’s Capital of Texas Triathlon, organizers are hosting a Doggie Du Dash and Kids K fun run – meaning the following streets will be closed:

7 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

·      Riverside Drive from Lamar Boulevard to South First St.

11:45 a.m. to 8 p.m.

·      Riverside Drive from South First Street to Barton Springs Road

·      Barton Springs Road from Riverside Drive to Congress Avenue

Later that evening, downtown will see a police escorted march in connection with the Harvey Milk Day Conference. Hours and information below:

7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

·      Guadalupe Street from West 4th Street to Cesar Chavez Street

·      Cesar Chavez Street from Guadalupe Street to Congress Avenue

·      Congress Avenue from Cesar Chavez Street to 11th Street

Monday: With as many as 3,000 athletes competing in the Capital of Texas Triathlon on Memorial Day, it will be a busy day in downtown Austin. The following streets will be closed for the competition.

2 a.m. to 1 p.m.

·      Cesar Chavez Street from MoPac Expressway (Loop 1) to Congress Avenue

·      Cesar Chavez Street from Congress Avenue to Brazos Street

·      Brazos Street from Cesar Chavez Street to East Fourth Street

·      Congress Avenue from Riverside Drive to Cesar Chavez Road

·      Congress Avenue from Cesar Chavez to 11th Street

·      11th Street from Colorado Street to San Jacinto Boulevard

·      San Jacinto Boulevard from East 11th to 18th streets

·      Riverside Drive from South First Street to Barton Springs Road

·      Barton Springs Road from Riverside Drive to Congress Avenue

·      Lee Barton Drive from Riverside Drive to Barton Springs Road

2 a.m. to 3 p.m.

·      South First Street from Barton Springs Road to Cesar Chavez Street

·      Riverside Drive from Lamar Boulevard to South First Street

Instead of cutting through downtown, the city suggests the alternate traffic routes: Mopac (Loop 1), Lamar Boulevard, Red River Street and Interstate-35 heading North/South; and Barton Springs Road, 15th Street, MLK Jr. Boulevard heading East/West.
