It’s a lot easier to compare Girl in a Coma to a tornado or a hurricane than it is to compare them to any other band. Simply put: Girl in a Coma is unstoppable. The San Antonio trio deals in raw power, a lot of which can be attributed to singer Nina Diaz’s voice. In fact, KUT’s own David Brown touts her as the best female singer in rock. With her behind the mic and on guitar, Phanie Diaz on drums, and Jenn Alva on bass, Girl in a Coma has a potent combo going. Over the course of their time together, the band has come to count Joan Jett, Tegan and Sara, Sia, The Pogues and Morrissey among their ever-growing fan base, which is nothing but a testament to their musical strengths. Girl in a Coma will be in Austin on Saturday night at Fiesta Gardens for the 2012 Pachanga Fest, a music festival showcasing Latino-created music. You’ll also be able to hear Girl in a Coma’s performance live in Studio 1a RIGHT HERE!
