Cruz Gets Another Million from Club for Growth

May 16, 2012 5:15 pm by: Ben Philpott

A Washington political action committee has doubled its investment in the GOP race for the U.S. Senate nomination in Texas.

The conservative Club for Growth said today it has spent $2 million in the past week on ads attacking the Senate frontrunner, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. The ads have attacked Dewhurst as a moderate who’s increased spending.

Dewhurst says the attacks are false and that the outside groups are spending money to “handpick their U.S. Senator.”

Early voting continues through next Friday. Election day in May 29.
