Conversation with the Candidates

Tonight, all of the major party United States Senate candidates vying to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison will take part in a live event in which they will be given the opportunity to present their stand on major issues to the state electorate.
KUT presents the event “Conversations with the Candidates” – a production of Houston Public Media, tonight at 7 p.m. on KUT-HD 2.
The Greater Houston Partnership, Houston Public Media and The University of Houston are co-hosting this forum.
Republican candidates Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Solicitor General Ted Cruz, Mayor Tom Leppert, and Craig James and democratic candidates Sean Hubbard and Paul Sadler are all confirmed to participate.
“We are proud to partner with The Greater Houston Partnership to help Texans better understand the issues and which candidate will best represent them,” said Lisa Trapani Shumate, executive director and general manager of Houston Public Media.
Each candidate will be personally interviewed by Gary Polland and David Jones, the hosts of Channel 8’s locally produced political show “Red, White & Blue.” The candidates will then assemble on stage to field questions submitted via social media and from the audience.
“What a tremendous opportunity for voters to educate themselves on the candidates running to represent us in the U.S. Senate,” said Jeff Moseley, president and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership. “It’s an honor to host these candidates and a pleasure to be able to deliver this event to the people of Texas so that they may be able to make an informed decision at the voting booth, both during the primaries and in November.”
This program will most likely be the last opportunity that the candidates have to address a state-wide audience before the primaries. The two-hour broadcast will be simulcast to public radio and TV stations throughout Texas. (via media release)
