Beaver Nelson @ KUT 5/29/12
Beaver Nelson began playing in Houston when he was just a kid, and by 18 he was called a songwriting prodigy by Rolling Stone. When he moved to Austin in ’91 he was already known from plenty of live shows and the two albums he had released while in high school. Now, five years since his last record, Nelson is releasing what may be his most ambitious project yet.
Along with the album itself, he created an album-length film that will be played at each performance on his tour this summer. This new project, Micro/Macro, is an adventure for Nelson who, instead of his usual acoustic guitar, wrote most of the songs on piano, not his native instrument. Nevertheless, the composition on Micro/Macro is polished and original.
