Austin’s Formula 1 Grand Prix race weekend is Nov. 18, and merchants are prepping for an influx of fans. Vicky Garza of the Austin Business Journal wrote this week about how, “F1 fans aren’t typical patrons.” KUT’s Emily Donahue spoke with Garza about the upcoming Austin Grand Prix, and what kinds of prep work are required for such an event.

From Garza’s article:

While Austin has some experience with international visitors because of the annual South By Southwest Festival, city officials and Formula One experts agree that the crowd coming for the race will be much different, and the hospitality industry needs to be aware of that. The Circuit of the Americas facility hosting the Formula One race in November is working with hospitality groups such as the Texas Restaurant Association to explore ways to help restaurants understand what they can expect.
