Canadian folk trio Timber Timbre have been twice nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, an award given to the best Canadian album every year. They were longlisted for their first release as a signed act (the self-titled Timber Timbre) in 2009 and then shortlisted for their next album (Creep on Creepin’ On) in 2011. Whether or not you’re as oblivious as I am to Canadian music awards, that’s still pretty impressive. And even more impressive than those nominations is the music that got them those nominations. The trio plays a ghostly type of swamp blues/folk, something that sounds both out of this world and traditional at the same time, and it is astounding. Timber Timbre have a show at Lambert’s and a show at Stubb’s, supporting Feist. You can also hear them RIGHT HERE from their Studio 1a performance for host Jay Trachtenberg.
