I only recently had the pleasure of finding out about The Wolf through a show they did with Bobby Jealousy, more than likely at the 29th Street Ballroom at Spider House. But in doing my homework to learn more, I discovered there wasn’t much information out there in Internet land, save for some great performances featured on blog/podcast Dual Tape Deck last month. That was about it.

It’s more word-of-mouth when it comes to checking this band out. The local quintet deftly puts their own spin on some very classic sounds, with a very garage pop feel, undeniably psychedelic and straight-up rock ‘n’ roll. They’ve got an intensity you can easily lose yourself in that really needs to be experienced live, at full volume.

Looks like there’s a new album in the works. Meanwhile, it would do you good to check these guys out. The Wolf plays tonight for Alex Gee’s Birthday at 29th Street Ballroom, 2906 Fruth. Also on the bill are Shivery Shakes, Sexploits, and Unknown Relatives. Get there around 10 p.m. This will get your week started right. Recommended.
