If you haven’t figured it out by now, you’ll require earplugs, lest the hair-splitting guitar and the rocking-out cause your eardrums to implode.

The Blind Pets are one of a number of bands blazing a new trail for rock in Austin. They derive a great deal of pleasure from eschewing expectations by presenting their audiences with a jet-fueled, explosive amalgam of rock, punk, grunge and metal. It’s like a rock ‘n’ roll tour bus without the breaks, tearing through all the pointless red lights at breakneck speed. But, with all the intensity and primal fury, there’s an unpretentious air and sense of melody that makes you want to jump right in it.

Speaking of breakneck speed, that would describe the energy of frontman Joshua Logan. Flanked by bassist Dustin Hannah and kamikaze drummer Michael Gibson onstage, Logan is inspired to greater heights at each live performance with enough leaps and mutilating shreds to hold any crowd captive.

And now, The Blind Pets are poised to debut the video for the track “Signature Move” from their fiery red vinyl album Sweet Tooth. No doubt there’ll be nonstop signature Logan moves all over the place at their tour kickoff and video release show, Thursday night at The ND, located at 5th and Brushy. This is one tremendous show with a huge line-up: The White White Lights, Watch Out For Rockets, Hearthache Tycoons (featuring Not In the Face! vocalist and self-proclaimed Blind Pets fan Jonathan Terrell), songwriter Joshua Bain doing a solo set, and the youngest rock stars in the ‘hood, Residual Kid.

The new video will also be premiered at the show. Not to be missed – like a mini-action film that’s only missing Clint Eastwood. Or at the very least, Steve McQueen in Bullitt.

Doors open at 9 p.m. Come join the party. Highly recommended for your rock fix. Just remember: Earplugs.
