The rate for March dropped one-tenth of a percent, according to Workforce Solutions. That puts the city at 6 percent unemployment – still well below state and national rates.
“March was a little slower than we had hoped for, but still positive,” says Alan Miller, the executive director of Workforce Solutions Capital Area. “We did have a net gain of 1,800 jobs for the month – not as good as the month before, but still steady, sustainable growth.”
Miller says the number of construction jobs dropped significantly, but more jobs were added in the areas of healthcare and hospitality.
