Singer and songwriter Robert Ellis got his start with a residency at Houston club Fitzgerald’s Whiskey Wednesday nights, a night that was exactly what it sounded like: a drunken throwback to classic country and bluegrass music. That drunken throwback evolved into him writing his own songs, still vaguely reminiscent of that classic country style. He self released his first album in 2010, which received such a good response that he was quickly scooped up by a label to release a second album the next year. His newer album, Photographs, was named one of the 50 best albums of 2011 by American Songwriter’s Magazine. Both tonight and next week, Robert Ellis will be playing at Stubb’s, bringing the Whiskey Wednesdays to Austin. You can catch his performance live on KUT RIGHT HERE!
