Texas based blues band Omar & the Howlers have been playing music together for more than 30 years. The band was formed in Hattiesburg, Mississippi by the front man and driving force of the group, Omar Kent Dykes. Pretty soon after getting together, they relocated to Austin in order to become a part of its always growing music scene. Omar has had a rotating cast of Howlers since then (the original Howlers called it quits after a year in Austin), and together, they continue to pump out albums worth of material. Recently, harmonica player Gary Primich, one of the more prominent Howlers, passed away. In his memory, his family is releasing a special tribute album, Just a Little Bit More… with Omar Dykes. In honor of their friend, Omar & the Howlers will be doing an in store show for the album at Waterloo Records on Friday and will be playing a special Gary Primich Memorial Show at the Continental Club on Sunday. You can hear Omar & the Howlers play live in Studio 1a RIGHT HERE!
