Either despite or because of her lack of formal training, Austin based jazz singer Kat Edmonson never fails to amaze an audience. After releasing her first album, Take to the Sky, in 2009, critics and fans alike were astounded by her voice, which sounds almost as if it were straight from jazz’s golden age. That being said, she wouldn’t be as recognized as she is if she just simply took old songs and sang them well. She sings some original songs, and songs that aren’t her own she puts an innovative spin on. Kat Edmonson played a show at the Paramount Theatre, but before that she dropped by KUT to play a few tunes in Studio 1a. Enjoy!
