Austin musician Glenn Fukunaga is probably the city’s most well-known bass player. He’s played on recordings and in live shows with some of the best artists in Texas in addition to legends like Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, and Robert Plant. Recently, he recorded the first album of his own compositions, Not A Word, which as the title might indicate, is entirely instrumental. But the lack of words doesn’t hold the songs back from being full of expression, Fukunaga and each other instrumentalist he brings along for the ride play at the top of their game. Each of the songs breaks musical convention in favor of creating spectacular jazz compositions. This week, Glenn Fukunaga will play a couple of CD release shows, one at Waterloo Records and another at the Continental Club Glenn Fukunaga joined host Jay Trachtenberg in Studio 1a and you can listen to that performance RIGHT HERE!
