Council Candidate Interview: Mike Martinez, Place 2

Early voting for city elections begins a week from Monday; there are 14 candidates running for four positions on the Austin City Council. Over the next week or so we’ll hear from each of them.

We begin with Place 2, where incumbent Mike Martinez is running for a third term on the council. KUT’s Matt Largey spoke with Martinez about what he sees as the city’s role in preserving the ability of middle- and low-income people to live in Austin.

It’s our responsibility as government to do what people can’t do for themselves, and people can’t control the cost of living, necessarily.
