San Francisco had a summer of Love. But Austin? It’s was more than just a season.
The Spirit of ’72 became a musical movement that flourished for a decade, and continues to define Austin –and Texas–in important ways. ‘Outlaw Country’, ‘Progressive Country’, call it what you will: it’s the stories and 10 ‘essential songs’ from the era of the cosmic cowboy in a special collaboration with Texas Monthly magazine. That’s coming up on the next Texas Music Matters, Friday at noon and Friday night at 11 on KUT 90.5.
