Around Town: Lonestar Rod and Kustom Round Up

April 16, 2012 3:33 pm by: Rebecca McInroy

Eleven years ago a small group of like-minded gear-heads, artists and musicians gathered on a football field in central Austin to share their passion for Hot Rods and Custom cars. Today the Lonestar Rod and Kustom Roundup is a full-fledged event featuring vintage cars, rockabilly music and enthusiasts from all over the world.

Co-founder Brian Auderer may have put it best when he said, “Custom  car and hot rod building… it’s a classic American art form. Hot rods are made for going really fast and customs are made for going slow and flashy…cars, music, the open road, it’s everything that you think about what is very quintessential American.”

If you are lucky enough to own a Hot Rod we hope you are driving around Austin showing off to the rest of us. But if not, enjoy this video we brought back from our time drooling over chrome and nostalgia.
