Watch for Rain and Thunderstorms Tonight
It'll look like rain later tonight in Central Texas. Photo by KUT NewsCentral Texas could be in for some severe weather tonight.
Bob Rose, a meteorologist with the Lower Colorado River Authority, says a cold front should move into the Austin area soon. That front will bring rain across the area and maybe even some thunderstorms.
“It’s a slight possibility that some of these could contain some large hail and maybe some very gusty winds,” Rose said. “But in general, I think we’re looking at a widespread light to moderate rain along with some scattered thunderstorms and that will continue into much of the evening hours and even a good part of the overnight hours.”
Rose says this is the start of a rainy stretch that should last through the weekend. And some of that rain should fall into the Highland Lakes.
Rose thinks we could see 1 to 2 inches of rain, which he says will ease some drought conditions.
