THE GOOD MUSIC CLUB: Crooks

Hello once again from your friends at The Good Music Club! Just to give you a little refresher on the deal: The GMC is both a live music event and an online video series highlighting Austin-based bands and solo music artists making an impact on the local music scene. And I, your host Laurie Gallardo, am very happy to present our next installment, featuring a local band that’s making its mark in the resurgence of genuine country music, Crooks.
This is a brilliant quartet that serves up real country with all due respect to the old school, which means keeping all the rough-edged honky-tonkin’, hard-livin’ and lovelorn battle scars in tact. It’s very much a tip of the hat to the early years of country-western music that you did your (hard) drinkin’ to. These gents just completed recording their new full-length album with producer Danny Reisch, and is due for release very soon. Talk about keepin’ it real: It features a guest performance by the one and only Flaco Jiménez.
You’ll definitely enjoy these videos of Crooks’ recent GMC performance, featuring frontman and guitarist Josh Mazour, drummer Rob Bacak, Andrew Vanvoorhees on stand-up bass, and Sam Alberts on multiple instruments, including trumpet. And the crowd goes wild…
Details on the next taping of The Good Music Club are coming soon. Remember that these performances are free and open to the public, and take place at The ND, located at 5th and Brushy St., not too far away from Progress Coffee.
