Austin band the Atomic Duo is Mark Rubin on guitar and Silas Lowe on mandolin. At face value, they may seem slightly unremarkable: just your average two-man band that plays just your average folk/Americana music. And to an extent, that’s what they are. But what really sets them apart from the pack is their subject matter. The Atomic Duo travels the back roads of the country, making their way to towns whose voices aren’t necessarily heard. Rubin and Lowe make it their job to hear those voices and put their stories to music. The result is a powerful brand of folk with subject matter that truly matters.
