Here we stand – or slump, in some cases, bleary-eyed and ears ringing. SXSW has come and gone. There are memories of a multitude of shows, unexpected pleasant (musical) surprises, The Boss just chatting away about life and his inspirations, Anthony Bourdain sightings, or whatever. It was a flash of lightning – and now it’s over. Hopefully, your SX experience was rich and rewarding. If not, at least you’re breathing a sigh of relief as you mutter, “I have my town back.”
But, as an Austinite, you must remember that after the festival is over and the visitors leave, the music goes on in our fair city. And I have the perfect way to help you unwind and easy your way into a new week. Local artist (that feller Down at the End of the Bar) Leo Rondeau continues his Monday night residency at the Hole In the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe. He mixes traditional country, roots and a touch of bluegrass in his music. Rondeau will sing you tales of love – and all the damn trouble it gets you into, in his skeptical yet humorous observations from the perspective of a world-weary troubadour. And tonight, the bill includes a set by the man who is more than just horn rims and hair: Songwriter and roots rocker John Evans.
A double treat. Don’t miss out. The music begins at 10 p.m. Recommended. Get yourself a beer, kick back and relax. And may your recovery be a smooth and gentle one.
