Without trying to be too cliche, Minor Mishap Marching Band is how Austin does a marching band. Describing themselves as a “circus-punk-brass band,” the 35-piece ensemble is known to absolutely tear it up during their live performances. The band was founded by Austin musician Datri Bean out of a love of street music and desire to inspire a sense of community through the transformation of public spaces. The result does just that, turning any space it performs in into a loud and raucous party that would cause any passerby to stop, smile, and wonder what on Earth is being celebrated. This weekend, Minor Mishap Marching Band will be performing at Honk!TX, a festival taking place this weekend celebrating street band like them.
