The StoryCorps mobile booth was in Austin recently collecting stories from your fellow central Texans. The Airstream has now left town, but we’ll continue airing the stories recorded there every Monday and Wednesday morning here on KUT and archiving them here.

Kate and Mike Voth were married in 2008, when she was 22 and he was 24. Their marriage has been, in part, defined by Kate’s ongoing battle with cancer; she was diagnosed just a few months before their wedding. Despite this challenge, however, they’re planning to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary in 2083.

    thank you for sharing, i was also diagnosed shortly before getting married, it is defiinitely a unique start to marriage to start it with cancer! but kudos to our wonderful spouses for taking it on! we are all the stronger for it! thank you for sharing; i was wondering if we were the only newlyweds going thru such. best wishes!
