Happy March, internetizens! We’re kicking off the new month with a big ol’ podcast for you, our dear, dear friends. First off, it’s the O’Dark podcast debut of a show called 99% Invisible. It’s a great new podcast of its own that’s now a part of our podcast, and it’s produced by PRX’s Roman Mars (who has a name that’s 99% cooler than is necessary for radio work). This episode of the show will take a look at how Oreo came to dominate Hydrox in the sandwich cookie market, and examine how the Teddy Bear won out over the Billy Possum. Fascinating stuff.
Keeping in the historical vein, we’ll also bring you Abraham Lincoln’s Portrait, which also includes some fascinating stuff. It’s about Lincoln, and also about a portrait of Lincoln painted by Tony Bennett. And since Tony Bennett is a pretty awesome singer, there’s also a nice smattering of Bennett’s music thrown in. It’s your one-stop shop for history lessons and traditional pop vocal stylings.
