The StoryCorps mobile booth was in Austin recently collecting stories from your fellow central Texans. The Airstream has now left town, but we’ll continue airing the stories recorded there every Monday and Wednesday morning here on KUT and archiving them here.

Today we’ll hear from singer/songwriter David Garza. Since moving to Austin in the waning days of the 1980s, Garza has become an integral part of the local music scene. And, as you’ll hear in this StoryCorps piece, music’s always been a integral part of his life, from his early days listening to whatever came over his mother’s radio and hiding AC/DC’s Highway to Hell under his bed to his present and future.
