With a career spanning more than 50 years, David Amram has composed more than 100 orchestral and chamber works, along with film scores, theater scores, and operas. The composer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist has collaborated with sort of a smattering of who’s whos in not only music, but the arts in general, including Willie Nelson, Dizzy Gillepsie, Langston Hughes, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Jack Kerouac and many, many others. Amram is without a doubt the definition of “living legend,” and as such, his life and career were chronicled in the 2010 documentary David Amram: The First 80 Years. This weekend, David Amram will be visiting Austin for a couple performances and screenings of the documentary. You can hear his performance from Studio 1a with host Jay Trachtenberg RIGHT HERE!
