If the band Blitzen Trapper is anything, it’s eclectic. In their dozen-or-so year run as a group, the band has touched on bits of power pop, prog, indie folk, country, 70s rock and more, and earned raves from the usual suspects (Rolling Stone, SPIN, Pitchfork, etc.).

Blitzen Trapper formed in 2000 in the indie music hub of Portland, Oregon. They put out three great records in the early half of the aughts, before hopping to the big time at Sub Pop with the 2008 record Furr.

In October, Blitzen Trapper stopped by KUT for a session in Studio 1A. One of the songs they recorded was today’s song of the day, “American Goldwing.” The song is the title track off the band’s latest record, released last September.

Be sure to check out Blitzen Trapper TODAY (3/16) at KUT’s radio day stage at the Austin Convention Center, where they’re scheduled to play at 4pm.

You can also catch Blitzen Trapper at other South By Southwest events:

Saturday, March 17, Stubb’s
