There’s one last chance to weigh in on a proposed plastic bag ban at a public forum Monday night at City Hall.
The tale of Austin’s proposed plastic bag ban goes back a few years now, and it might almost be over. In this week’s Changing Austin, KUT’s Matt Largey talked with Larry Schooler, the city of Austin’s community engagement consultant, about the proposed ban and the reactions the city has gotten from the public so far.
It’s across the board. That’s the reason why I think we need this last discussion. You’ll have some people who say we should have no regulation in this area whatsoever, that it’s not going to accomplish the goals that the city has. Then you have other people say we should immediately ban all plastic and paper bags, period, checkout or no. So we’re going to ask some of those questions.
The hearing starts at 6 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at City Hall.
