KUT On The Move: Susan Castle

Construction of the new KUT Public Media Studios at The Belo Center for New Media is well underway and on schedule for an early summer completion. Even though no one really likes the idea of moving, we have to say that the KUT staff is very excited about moving into our brand new home. The new digs include a 72-seat, glass-walled Studio 1-A, two control rooms, a community engagement room, a street-level outdoor stage overlooking a performance lawn, and a producer commons that will bring together – for the first time – KUT’s newsroom, on-air hosts, music producers, online producers and interns to collaborate.
One of those KUT folks that will be packing up and moving across the street this summer is Susan Castle. Susan has been with the KUT music department for a little over two years, which makes her almost a babe in the woods by KUT standards (John Aielli, Jay Trachtenberg, Jeff McCord, Ed Miller, etc.). Susan holds down the “castle/fort” Monday nights from 8-11pm along with Sunday mornings from 6-11am where she’s already become a listener favorite. She also regularly fills in for Jay, John, Jeff and Matt Reilly during KUT’s music programming. Learn more about the person behind that wonderful voice in this video profile put together by KUT’s Rick McNulty.

Hi Susan. Just wanted to let you know that you are my favorite DJ. The songs you play are the ones that I would be spinning. It’s always a pleasant surprise to tune in on Monday evening or any other time for that matter and hear your voice. I know if your at the controls, some good music will follow. Thanks for being there.
I new it was only a matter of time when you had your own regular slot again. I have always enjoyed your shows. See you around town. Take care.
