Governor Perry Drops out of GOP Race
Rick Perry ended his bid for the White House today.
“I am suspending my campaign and endorsing Newt Gingrich,” Perry announced at a news conference this morning in North Charleston, South Carolina.
The decision comes a day after spokesmen defiantly said that Perry was “in it to win it” and called talk of a surrender “nuts.” Perry made the decision overnight and informed top aides Thursday morning.
Funding for Texas Volunteer Firefighters
Emergency management officials are looking back at last fall’s Central Texas wildfires. And they’re admitting they could have used more help. Many of the firefighters who responded to wildfires were volunteers.
Deep water Drilling in Texas
After the B-P oil spill in 2010, the federal government put a moratorium on deep water drilling. Nearly two years later, it’s been lifted. Companies are buying up new offshore leases left and right. The government has been holding hearings on how drillers should be regulated going forward. But there’s one thing missing from those hearings: the public.
