Vocalist Krishna Das is as close to a rock star as someone who sings traditional Hindu kirtan can get. Taking the centuries old chants, setting them to welcoming melodies and layering them over Western chord structures played with modern instruments, Krishna Das has made kirtan accessible to an enormous audience. Krishna Das has released 10 albums of his very spiritual Eastern-meets-Western music and spends his time traveling the world, performing and teaching. This weekend, Krishna Das has two events scheduled in Austin at Central Presbyterian Church, a performance Friday evening and a workshop Saturday afternoon.
