Some music fans would argue that this may be the best time of the year. If anything, it’s a wonderful deal because it’s free.
This week marks the official beginning of Free Week, a wonderful opportunity to catch shows at participating music venues for free – that’s no cover charge at the door. And Free Week is also a great way to check out several great local bands that you may not have seen yet (but maybe heard about on KUT).
Today’s featured Free Week show on the Austin Music Minute is happening tonight at Red 7, 611 E. 7th St., presented by Chicken Ranch Records:
-Some people speak of having out-of-body experiences. In this case, it would be an out-out-mind experience. The ever-intriguing electronic trio Automusik starts the evening at 8:30 p.m.
-They are the proud purveyors of “dork rock.” Dorking-out is essential. Mandible follows at 9:30 p.m.
-If creating a hybrid of bluegrass, Celtic influences, psych, and old-timey string music is the work of aliens, the mother ship has landed. Starlings, TN plays at 10:30 p.m.
-You’ll find this dementia strolling through the dark after midnight, along a murderous trail. Mr. Lewis and The Funeral 5 take the stage at 11:30 p.m.
-This is rock ‘n’ roll in great form- pop/rock fervor on rocket fuel. A Texas Music Matters favorite – Moonlight Towers performs at 12:30 a.m.
