Thoughts and observations on Dana Falconberry‘s music sometimes seem united by a common thread: The listener often notes that the emotions within her songs are drawn from a beautiful and otherworldly place.

The Austin-based songwriter, originally from Michigan, had been performing for a growing fan base around town but initially caught the ear of music reviewers with her second release, Hallets (2010), an intricate and ethereal portrait of harmonies and melodies that remains absolutely timeless. Now she brings forth another thing of wonder, her new EP Though I Didn’t Call It Came. Once again, Falconberry wanders even further into the depths with an exploration of curiosity, mortality and solitude. The music makes for a compelling experience – lush, layered and utterly heartbreaking.

Be sure to tune in to KUT 90.5 this Thursday morning at 11 a.m. for Dana Falconberry’s live performance in KUT’s Studio 1A. And Falconberry is having an EP release show Thursday night at the Mohawk, 912 Red River. The show includes performances by Austin bands Marmalakes and Sleepgood. It’s another fabulous triple bill to drool over. This one comes highly recommended.
