January 4, 2012 9:45 am by: Peter Babb

If you’re a music fan, 2012 is already shaping up to be a great year. For evidence, we’ve asked KUT’s in-house music experts to pick a dozen Texas artists to watch out for in the new year. On the next Texas Music Matters it’s an hour of musical discovery as we explore 12 for ’12. Join us Friday at noon or Friday night at 11 on KUT 90.5.
Listen here for our picks for 2012!

Make sure this year is full of good music; it might be your last!!! Here is our list of 12 bands to watch in 2012 in alphabetical order.
The Couch
Crooks
Golden Bear
Shakey Graves
Bobby Jealousy
Not in the Face
Quiet Company
David Ramirez
Sons of Fathers
The Trishas
Ume
Wiretree

Pretty good list RIGHT!?! As professional listeners of local music with exquisite tastes we probably didn’t miss anyone, but with 10,000 working musicians in this town there is the slight possibility some deserving band might have been overlooked. But you dear listener can fix our list by visiting our Facebook page and nominating your pick for Austin band to watch in 2012. If a clear front runner emerges, we’ll feature them on an upcoming episode of Texas Music Matters.
