What We’re Watching: What FACEBOOK and GOOGLE are Hiding from the world

The old adage, “the more things change the more they stay the same,” couldn’t be more true when it comes to the internet according to organizer and author Eli Pariser. Pariser, author of The Filter Bubble, likened our relationship to the internet, or rather the internet’s relationship to us, to the role of newspapers in the early 1900s; before they found their way as the gatekeepers of information.

One really eye-opening informal experiment he shares in this TED Talk is one where he asked his friends to Google the word Egypt, and then had them take a screen shot of what came up. See the surprising results and much more in the video. It’s What We’re Watching and who knows, his ideas could inform what we’re watching well into the future!
