Artist and writer E.K. Weaver has been telling the story of TJ and Amal for the past several years. After creating a handful of web-based comic strips featuring the characters, Weaver began to form larger story for the pair, eventually creating a multi-volume story arc that features a cross-country road trip. It’s part comedy, part character study, and part love story, and now it’s not just a web comic, but (as E.K. says) a “real book.”

Part one of The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal is titled “Poor Boys and Pilgrims,” and it covers the beginning of their story; a middle and an end will come along in the next couple of years. It’s a comic book, but with some mature themes, so it’s geared more toward adult readers than kids.

The book’s available at Weaver’s website and at Austin Books, where E.K. will be on hand to sign books this Saturday from 1:00 until 4:00.
