I first had the pleasure of seeing songwriter Alejandro Rose-Garcia perform a few weeks ago at Hole In the Wall. He goes by the name Shakey Graves, and quite literally, the performance – the atmosphere, the mood of the audience, blew me away. He keeps the room mesmerized. And that, dear friends, is a slight understatement.

There’s an almost simplistic beauty to these graceful, somewhat dark and haunted melodies that he entwines on his D.I.Y. EP, Roll the Bones, perhaps even something a little sorrowful at its very core. I can think of no other word but stunning when I hear the tracks on the EP, and when they’re performed live. This is truly an artist to look out for.

Do not miss Shakey Graves play tonight at the Hole In the Wall, 2538 Guadalupe. Sharing the bill are Hello Caller and songwriter JD Clark. Get there after 10 p.m. This is another show that comes highly recommended.
