Holiday Bowl Tonight
Texas and California clash tonight in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. The Texas Longhorn football team is looking for its eighth win of the season. A lot’s at stake for the Horns and the California Golden Bears. Both ended the regular season 7-5. And both teams are making a return to a bowl game after not qualifying last season. Tonight’s game starts at 7:00 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
Aquaponics Farming in Austin
So many crops in Texas have died this year, perishing in the fields during the ongoing drought. Farmers had extremely low yields and now some are being told to cut back on their water use. KUT’s Erika Aguilar reports one man in Austin thinks he has found a new way to farm that uses less space and less water.
Gov. Perry Suing Over Virginia Ballot Access
Texas Governor Rick Perry is suing the chair of the Republican Party of Virginia and members of the Virginia State Board of Elections over being left off of the March 6th primary ballot. In a filing made in federal district court in Richmond, lawyers for the Perry campaign challenge a provision requiring petition circulators to be registered or eligible to vote in Virginia.
The state’s GOP told the Perry camp Friday that it didn’t make the ballot because some of the people circulating petitions didn’t meet the standard. Perry’s lawyers say Virginia’s rules violate the governor’s right to free speech and association.
