Parts of Shoal Creek are getting a makeover.
Soil erosion and poor water quality have plagued the creek for years, said Morgan Byars, who’s leading a $5 million restoration project currently in the design stages. Construction is expected to get underway in 2013.
“Our main focus here is dealing with excessive creek bed erosion, which is eating away at park land,” said Byars.
KUT’s Matt Largey spoke with Byars about the project. Listen to the interview by clicking the player above.
You can learn more about the project at an open house tonight. It starts at 7 o’clock at 505 Barton Springs Road, Room 325.
There’s a video of the erosion along Shoal Creek produced by KUT’s Nathan Bernier and Lizzie Chen.
