A Fact Check for Perry’s Iowa Ad

Texas Governor Rick Perry has been advertising heavily in Iowa, trying to boost his standing there in the rush to the January presidential caucuses. Emily Donahue with KUT News spoke with Gardner Selby of PolitiFact Texas and the Austin American-Statesman about Perry’s statement in an Iowa TV ad that “our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.”

Our sense after looking closely is that school officials may not organize prayers or focus on a single religion in connection with Christmas, but kids can still pray and also celebrate the holiday.
