Image via artist's official website.Singer-songwriter Tom Russell is a musician well versed in the Texas country music tradition, but first and foremost, he’s a storyteller. Every track on his most recent album, Mesabi, has a through-line that tells one long story over the course of the work. Showcasing his impressive songwriting talent, the story jumps from Juarez, Mexico to Los Angeles to Minnesota. Tom Russell will be in town on Wednesday to play a show at the Cactus Cafe. You can hear him live on KUT when he joins us earlier that afternoon in Studio 1a at 2 PM.
