It’s immediate association by first name: Aretha.
No doubt one would think of the iconic singer, the legend, the one and only, the Queen of Soul. Aretha Franklin, the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, paved the way for so many soul and R&B divas today. Raised with gospel in her father’s church, inspired by the greats of blues and jazz, Franklin embraced all her influences and became an outstanding figure of the new voice of ’60s soul.
Aretha Franklin has been performing for six decades, moving people with her powerful voice, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest singers of all time. Another musical legend, Ray Charles, once proclaimed, “There are singers, then there is Aretha…”
Franklin will perform, along with special guests The Blind Boys of Alabama, tonight at ACL Live at The Moody Theater. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show begins at 8 p.m.
