Saying that Sam Lipman is a musician is like saying that Martin Scorsese is just a filmmaker. Sam started playing various instruments, including the piano and the violin, at a very early age at home in Australia. He’s gone on study jazz saxophone and guitar at the Sydney Conservatory, and then moved to New York to learn from the “big cats” of the New York jazz scene. He even conducted Julliard students in a gorilla style symphony he created with a friend in Brooklyn.
He now plays with the Austin band Shearwater and you can catch him around town performing with Jazz musicians like Ephraim Owens and Roscoe Beck.
His most recent album is a contemplative reflection on the importance of space and the human experience.
