Early Voting Deadline Near

Friday is the last day of early voting for the November 8th elections. Texans are voting on ten state constitutional amendments. Travis County has two bond propositions on the ballot for transportation and parks projects. Some Central Texas school districts and cities also have proposals on the ballot including the Lake Travis and Lago Vista school districts and the cities of Pflugerville and Round Rock.

On today’s Newspod, we take a look at Proposition 7 on the Texas constitutional amendment ballot. It would create a parks system in El Paso County.

Council to Vote on Extending Bike Trail

The Austin City Council will vote on extending the Lance Armstrong Bike Trail in East Austin at its meeting today. Phase three of the project extends the trail off-street from East 5th and Shady Lane to the Airport Boulevard Bridge. The project would cost over half a million dollars. It would be paid through grant money and a bond approved in 2000.

Red Flag & Freeze Warning

A red flag warning is in effect for Central Texas from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Strong winds and low humidity mean any fire that breaks out could spread quickly.

Also, a freeze warning is in effect for much of Central Texas, especially the Hill Country, from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. Friday. Highs in Austin Thursday will be in the mid 60s and Thursday night lows will drop to near 35.
